Enterprise Services

Assiniboine Community College offers a variety of services to international customers. If you don’t see the services you are looking for below, let us know what your training needs are so we can facilitate your special requirements.

Joint delivery arrangements

Small businesses and organizations may be interested in entering into a collective arrangement to provide training in a service area that supports the partners. Assiniboine has experience providing training options with multiple groups and works to ensure that the best arrangements are made for the success of the students. The benefits  of collaboration  for a common goal results in providing training to staff who are better able to support the success of individual participant groups in a cost-effective venture.

Workforce Development

During difficult economic times, workforce retraining may be required to shift workers to high-needs areas of labour that are experiencing skill shortages. Assiniboine works with federal, provincial and local government agencies to provide specific training to meet the needs of labour gaps. Current examples of training to meet local labour market needs include:
• Early Child Care Worker training in several areas within the province of Manitoba
• Introduction to Corrections to assist potential correctional officers with meeting the entry requirements into the training program

Instructional Consultation

Assiniboine can help you design your own in-house training programs by providing direction to your trainers on the full scope of training, from course design to delivery methods and ongoing follow-up. Our collective experience can be to your advantage.

Curriculum Development

Businesses or organizations may not always have time or access to expertise needed to develop curriculum that meets industry requirements, Assiniboine has highly skilled staffs who are able to provide clear, current curriculum to meet your specifications, with a wealth of resources available to assist with the process.

Facilitator Guides

Instructional staffs are provided with guides that provide a detailed breakdown of the topic areas needed to deliver the training purchased. The guides include examples of activities that could be used, but the individual instructor will have room to include activities and examples that are relevant to the cultural backgrounds of their students.

Learners’ Guides

Students are able to follow the lesson plans from their own guides that complement the Facilitator Guides yet do not contain all the materials provided for instructional purposes. The Learner’s Guide is a supplementary learning tool that enhances the use of a textbook and other resource material.

Educational Business Study Tours (Summer)

Assiniboine Community College will provide business study tours during the summer months, in programs such as the agricultural field. While learning about the agricultural business in class, you will tour a local hog farm, a Hutterite colony, go on a trail ride (ride a horse or take the wagon), and see the wood bison in a National Park. This is just one example of some of the summer business study tours that will be offered, so check back often if you would like to visit us.

 

Customized training

We can offer so many training experiences at the campuses in Brandon, Manitoba, but we can also provide customized training where you need it the most. If you have a training need that you would like to have developed and set up, contact us with your needs and let us help you get the training materials ready for your use.

Specialized Corporate training

Assiniboine provides a broad range of customized corporate training opportunities in the fields of information technology, trades, business, agriculture, sustainable development, land and water management, health and human services (Aboriginal Community Development, Education Assistant, Police Studies, Introduction to Correctional Officer training, health care aide, practical nursing and early childhood education), If you have a requirement for corporate training, let us develop the curriculum for you.

Aboriginal training

Throughout the years, Assiniboine has developed and delivered a variety of training programs to Aboriginal communities throughout Manitoba such as carpentry, practical nursing, high school upgrading and employment preparation, as well as seminars and workshops for specific requirements. In cooperation with the Aboriginal communities and other government agencies, the successes continue to impress all parties involved. We welcome opportunities to work with Aboriginal communities and agencies to provide skill and theory instruction where, and when, needed.

Continuing Studies

Lifelong learning has become a well used term that is often a bit confusing. Such is not the case for Continuing Studies programs offered at Assiniboine Community College as we encourage individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds to continue to learn through the programs, workshops, and seminars that we make happen. New ideas are always welcome so if you have suggestions, just give us a call and we’ll try to make it happen.

Contract Training

Communities and organizations may not be able to send their people to training events or learning opportunities outside of their area, due to relocation costs or local area needs. Through a training contract with Assiniboine Community College, training can often be arranged for onsite delivery with various financing options. Assiniboine has been providing contract training options for several decades and has been very successful at making training happen in places where it otherwise would not have occurred. Train the Trainer

Organizations that have implemented new systems, complex processes or technology often find it necessary to provide in-house trainers, but who trains the trainers? Assiniboine can provide trainers with theoretical and practical background they will need to understand group dynamics, coaching and counselling skills, learning styles and engaging ways to help learners retain what they’ve learned. We can work with small groups of 7-10 participants, or large groups of 20+, just tell us what you need and we’ll work with you to provide results that will jump-start your trainers to success.
